I boarded the first plane out to the west coast
I needed to feel something real for a change
I think it was over ohio it hit me
An unfortunate side-effect of my age

And i flew higher than an airplane in the sky
We were soaring now, to far to turn around
And i passed a thousand faces as they passed me by
But we were on the wings of more important things

I wrote you a note on a pad with a pencil
I figured it may need revision someday
It's signed, "your lover, transcontinental"
A hurried adieu to a sorrier state
