Frances The Mute
Miranda That Ghost Just Isn't Holy Anymore
B: Pour Another Icepick
Tabbed by Dave H. - *
In terms of guitar work, this is my favorite song off FTM. If you're a beginner
guitarist, look elsewhere, but for intermediate-advanced players, this song is amazing,
and it shouldn't take you more than a few days to learn it. Perfecting it is another
story of course...
Tuning : standard.
Difficulty :
8 / 10 if finger picked
10/ 10 if hand picked
Key:
/ : slide
XbY : bend the string so that it sounds like you're on fret Y, even though you're on X
rX : release last bend, returning to unbent fret X
h : hammer
p : pull
m : mute (unless otherwise indicated, let notes ring)
x : play "dampened" note
. : primary beat
- : 16th beat
~ : 32nd beat
" : repeat last tabbed note (there's a lot of repetition, esp. in the chorus)
NOTE1: I will indicate each beat on which you are to repeat.
NOTE2: I will add a space when tabbed notes are into the double digits. A space
represents no beat, but allows the room for both digits. If you're confused, see
the first bar.

time signatures are indicated only when they change. Which unfortunately is a lot.
I'm not tabbing the 30 second intro. So if you love the non-musical stuff, sorry...

Now we can sort of relax mentally, because the time signatures are far more sane. But
physically we have a whole lot of work to do...
I can only play this by finger picking. Put your pick in your mouth and go. But I
think TMV hand picks it. And if you can do that, more power to ya. I bow to you.

if you're confused by the next few bars and how I've noted them, read over the key at
the top and listen to the song. Sorry, but in a text file, this is as clear as I could
make it. And if you've gotten this far, you're a talented guitarist, so you'll be able
to figure it out.

the easiest part of the song. played with lots of heart it can also be the most
satisfying. If you've got an amazing singer, even better. Still in 6/8 time, in case
you've forgotten. Let all the notes ring like crazy. Once you're comfortable, it's
quite possible to play the Gtr. 2 mini-solo/bend/whatever without interrupting the
overall sound. Just make sure hold strong on the 7th fret of the A string so it rings
clearly through the bend. Obviously you should bend away from the A string, because if
you mute it it ruins the feel.
Gtr. 2 1,2,3 4.

And there you have it. Thank you for having the patience to read the whole tab. I'm
just gonna compliment you once more for getting through such a tough song. As always,
I love feedback, so shoot me an e-mail. I'm pretty sure any errors within this tab are
minor, but feel free to let me know about them anyways. Good luck in your musical
career!
