Pedro Paiva iniciou seus estudos aos 12 anos,com Magnus Teixeira Winchmann. Aos 15 anos começou a ter aulas de violãocom Geraldo Fischer. Aos 20 com Francisco Guedes. Ingressou na UFRGS aos 23, onde teve aulas com Paulo Inda e com a professora Flávia Domingues Alves, também participou de Master Classes com Thiago Colombo, Turíbio Santos Participa do Incomum Ensemble, grupo de música contemporânea e também é integrante do Amao Quartet, quarteto de guitarra elétrica de âmbito mais experimental. Além do Erudito, Pedro também faz arranjos de músicas populares e compõee
