Ivan Resende participou das bandas Hardbirds, Free Hand Blues Band e banda NiT. Além do blues e rock, também dedicou-se à música instrumental e ao jazz, tocando no Ponto Triplo e em seguida com o Jazz a Três. Estudou na Pro-Music Escola de Música, foi aluno de Eduardo Campolina (EM/UFMG) e Fabio Adour (violonista e professor da EM/UFRJ). Em 2016 fez um curso na Middle Tennessee State University School of Music (MTSU), intitulado Guitar Workshop Plus em Nashville nos Estados Unidos. É hoje membro do trio Jazz a Três e da banda Free Hendrix, cover de Jimi Hendrix
