Look at the empty altar
An idol torn apart
But a thousand more like him will come
To demean all humankind!

The sleep of reason begins to numb the crowds
While a greedy preacher poisons their thoughts
Turning into servant sheep millions of fools
A drop of hope, a sea of fear and guilt

A blind faith fills the void in their lives
Convenient trust in a convenient God
Can’t they see what escapes from their hands?
Is the burden of freedom too heavy for man?

Look at the empty altar
Exhilarating sight
Feel the will to power grow
From the ashes of old gods

Beyond good and evil a few will reborn
In blood and tears to become who they are
There ain’t no easy path but great is the reward
Taking control we’ll live by our own law

The feast is served, let’s eat, drink and toast
To our flesh and blood, (to) life on Earth
We will win, we will lose, but we’ll fight
Stronger, wiser and freer a new man will rise
