Along a road of tangled thought
I ponder all that life has brought
Are eyes designed to truly see
Or just reflect what's known to me?
Is love the blade that cuts inside
A tool with which our truths collide?
Though tales and lies may cloud the air
Desire remains beyond compare
Between the steps of those who roam
Humanity constructs its poem
An instant in the sands of time
A fleeting verse in endless rhyme
Obstructions line the path we tread
They kindle flames when faced instead
To move beyond each thorny sting
We must ignite what's hindering
Amidst the crowd of common ways
We play our parts in life's displays
No saints or villains to be found
Just souls that tread on common ground
Belief can blind us to the sight
Of wonders hidden in plain light
Miracles might pass us by
When gazing with a clouded eye
Doctrines fade as people do
Lost within the endless view
Idleness can birth a vice
Yet crown a virtue in a trice
The wicked know where good resides
But good ignores where ill abides
Self-awareness marks the flawed
A mirror held by those outlawed
At last, I gaze upon your face
No longer bound by fierce embrace
No need to claim or to consume
In peace, our spirits find their room
What once was meant for heights above
Descends into a simple love
The purest truths we longed to find
Are often lost among mankind
