Build a Wall

Oceanique

Composed by: Maddy Houston/Jess Houston
I could build a wall between me and you
Lay the bricks one by one so they don’t resemble a view
It would be dark and cold
No fresh air would fill my lungs
And I wouldn’t see the evening Sun

But if I build it tall enough
Would the warmth be held in
High enough so I don't feel your presence near my skin

I could take the short walk home
Away from the park
Be in the open spaces where the street lamps light up the dark
But if I walked fast enough
Would the light hold me, be warm enough
So I don’t feel the shadows in the dark

Take in the warm light, I am not afraid
