I was born in 71 
Policeman dad and a yodelling mum 
Got no brother sister ties 
I'm an only child 
Nana sang to me on the swing 
Made me laugh with her tickling 
Took the stage at the age of 3 
It was mum and me 

I remember when I would fall asleep 
Under mums fur coat back stage 
How the sound of her voice would comfort me 
And I guess that nothings changed 
So here I am before you now still trying to get it right

17 I was fashion queen 
It was great lycra tights were in 
I would sew for half the night 
Just to look right 
Met a man he was everything 
Broke my heart 
I was 20 then 
Had to learn how to be strong 
How to move on 

I remember when I cried all night 
When my dog Rhoda died 
And at 15 when I lost my Nan 
She said God was by her side 
So here I am before you now 
Still trying to get it right
